Tournament bust outs - a question.

This question may have been asked before, and if it has, I apologise but I was unable to find the search bar to check. My question for everyone here is this:

Would you rather bust out of a poker tournament on the first hand or be the bubble, and why?

To answer my own question, I'd prefer to be out first hand. If it's not my day, it's not my day. While I'll admit there's a certain level of gratification in knowing I've played well and run reasonably deep, to me, getting that far into a tournament and being the last person to leave with nothing is more infuriating than being out first hand. All the more so if I've been lucky and won an all-expenses paid package (hotel, flights, buy-in) to a tournament somewhere lovely like the Bahamas or a city I've always wanted to visit. Busting out first hand means I can play tourist. It gives me a few days of fun and relaxation - a free holiday - which I wouldn't get with a deep run sitting in the casino. But that's just me. What are your thoughts?

100% prefer to be out first, nothing worse than bubbling unless you have bubble protection

I get your logic, but I’d still take bubbling. It stings like hell, but at least you gave yourself a real shot and played meaningful poker. First hand bust just feels empty - no story, no battle, just over before it starts.
