A dull fortnight at the tables, but with a confidence boost thrown in.
Not much to report for the last fortnight. Stone bubbled the PartyPoker CM freeroll earlier this week which was frustrating, but a deep FT run all the same. No real point in describing that one in a separate post, as it was something of a plodding performance with little in the way of hands I can remember.
My best result - if it can be called that - was coming extremely close to freerolling into the $5200 SCOOP Main Event on PokerStars. The progression was the following: 100 player hyper-turbo freeroll -> $2.20 sat -> $22 sat -> $215 sat -> $5200 ME. Didn't quite manage to go the whole distance, ultimately finishing in position 17 of about 120 in the $215, which, sadly, wasn't enough as only 5 players could advance into the ME. Still, I managed to outlast a number of poker pros in that $215 satellite, and I had a top ten stack for most of it, only really becoming card dead in those crucial final levels. Ultimately I wasn't too disappointed: I was playing with some of the best players around and I held my own against them, which, for a largely micro-stakes recreational player, is pretty bloody gratifying, and something of a confidence boost after an otherwise miserable couple of weeks at the tables. Plus, there's always WCOOP later in the year...
