Hit a 3-days Losing streak.... Until I realized I was the Problem
New Week, New Energy Cardmates
Preparing my weekly routine currently but I feel like I needed to share this so ya'll could learn from my mistakes.
You see that voices you hear in your head when you're losing, that voice that keeps telling you to keep playing you need to get your losses back.... it's a very dangerous voice and I know it can be very convincing but you should never listen to such a voice.
I hit quite a significant loss last week, which was mostly my fault but I'm glad I was able to recover some of the losses eventually. This was a 3 days losing streak, one of the longest loses I've made so far but not the Longest.
The first day ended in a loss but didn't bother me so much, bad sessions happen in poker. That’s normal. But instead of stepping back and resetting mentally, I did what most players do, I tried to recover too quickly.
Normally, I have a set time and duration I play poker in a particular day.... I don't just pick a random time in a day to play tournament or cashgames, cause I have other things I do. But this time, I did something different the next day.
I tried to recover too quickly...
This actually had a negative impact instead, I ended up taking more losses and it was at this moment I knew I've made wrong decisions. After recessing, I figured I've been forcing hands I normally wouldn’t touch. Calling bets I knew I should fold and exhausting myself mentally.
By the third day, I wasn’t even playing confidently anymore.
I was playing emotionally.
Every hand felt personal and losses felt frustrating. Instead of making calm decisions, I was chasing momentum that never came.
Then I decided to give it all a break and hang out with friends instead. I feel like too much stress is the cause of this, I wasn’t thinking straight and needed to cool off.
And honestly?
That losing streak probably taught me more than some of my winning sessions ever did.
If you find yourself in this spot don't force it.... most players stress themselves too much and forget that other basic activities matters. Just give it all a break and have fun instead.
