How much do results affect your mood?

Something I’ve been thinking about lately - how much do results actually affect your mood?

Not even talking about big swings, just regular sessions. You can play well and still feel a bit off if things don’t go your way. And sometimes it’s the opposite - you know you didn’t play great, but the result kind of masks it.

I feel like managing that balance is trickier than it sounds.

Trying not to tie how I feel too much to results, but yeah… not always easy in the moment.

Curious how you guys deal with it - do results affect you much, or have you found a way to stay more neutral regardless?

Mood affects you massively.  I literally start a tournament and as soon as it starts sometimes I actually think why did I even enter. That mindset means I'm not gonna play well at all.  I feel myself I'm just not in the right mood.

I end up doing stupid stuff. Or alternatively I play tight and actually really well but at any moment will do something stupid.

The days I sign up and actually keep checking the start time looking forward to it. They are the days I'm gonna be on it. Clear thinking, aggressive when needed, calm and collected and thoughtful of each decision .

I find things outside of poker change my mood. Surroundings. Someone popping in out of the blue. Or the phone going.  Just an unexpected change during game play to my surroundings are the killer.
