The Doyle Brunson Hand

If you're dealt with the Hand 10♠︎ 2◆.....

What decision are you making at this point on the pre-flop, are you calling or folding.

I know most of you folks will fold, cause basically looking at it it's a weak hand compared to A,K,J. Even I would fold such a hand, but what If you and I didn't?

Have you heard of the Poker Legend "Doyle Brunson", yeah I know you haven't cause I just heard of him too.... He is often referred to as the Godfather of Poker cause he made the (ten-deuce) hand famous.

It became his signature hand after an unbelievable back-to-back run in the World Series of Poker Main Event.

In 1976, Brunson was heads-up against Jesse Alto holding 10♠︎ 2♠︎. He got it all-in on the flop against Alto's two pair, but hit runner-runner deuces on the turn and river to make a full house and take the title.

It didn't end here.... The very next year, defending his title heads-up against Gary "Bones" Berland, he looked down at 10, 2 once again. History repeated itself, he flopped bottom pair against Berland's two pair, hit a deuce on the turn for a higher two pair, and caught a ten on the river to secure another full house and his second consecutive world championship.

To this day, whenever a player is dealt a ten and a deuce at a Texas Hold'em table, it is universally referred to as "The Doyle Brunson."

So the next time you get dealt that hand, don't be too eager to fold.

Its not what cards you have, its how you play the board. When you have a big enough stack, you can call anything to see the flop. If you are short stacked, then its wise to fold 10 2 off.
