First live casino tournament in some time - the update.
As mentioned in a previous blog, I played my first live poker tournament in a casino last week, and as promised, here's a summary of the result:
It, um, did not go well. It actually started decently enough - I won a flip AK v JJ, catching a king on the river - but after that things fell apart. My bluffs got called, and my raises just got everyone to fold. Towards the end I was getting tired, irritable and bored, so I moved all-in blind and got two callers. I turned over my cards - J5 off, and saw that I managed to run into pocket aces and pocket sevens, and I did not improve. Still, I wasn't the first out, as I had feared, and I had about three hours of poker for my £30, but I wouldn't say it was an entertaining three hours.
I did, however, have much more fun in a £5 pub game the following night, coming third for £10. I sneakily limped pocket kings and it paid off when pocket sixes raised all-in on me. Then it was fairly standard poker until my last hand - QJ - which I knew was going to be beaten by the J9 of my opponent. And it indeed came to pass when he flopped the straight and that was that. So a mixed bag of results, but not unwelcome.
And to end, I have nothing of any consequence to write with regards to online poker, as I was enjoying my holiday and trying to avoid spending time at my computer.
