Poker on the Blockchain? 1st Place in the BasePoker Freeroll! ⛓️🃏
Hey cardmates,
I decided to take a little detour from my usual grind on the big sites to check out the crypto poker scene. I’ve been hearing a lot about BasePoker lately, so I jumped into their freeroll tonight to see if my game translates to the "web3" world.
The result? 1st place out of 118 players for a tidy $5 add to the bankroll!
The Crypto Vibe vs. Standard Sites
If you haven’t tried crypto poker yet, it’s a whole different atmosphere. The fields are smaller, but the players are unpredictable. Since the beginning of my recorded journey, I’ve focused on disciplined 8-max strategy, but on these decentralized platforms, you have to be ready for anything. It’s like the early days of online poker - lots of "feel" players and people willing to gamble.
The Strategy: Aggression is Universal
After my "God Mode" win in the CardsChat Silver on the 1st of March, I’ve realized that aggression is the ultimate "cheat code," whether you're playing for USD or crypto. In this Base freeroll, I didn't wait for the deck to hit me. I used the same "LlinusLlove" inspired pressure to bully the final table.
Even though it was a smaller field of 118, winning is a habit. Whether it’s $5 or $50, getting that "1st Place" popup never gets old.
The Big Question: I’m starting to think these smaller crypto sites might be the best place to build a bankroll from scratch right now. The big sites are full of sharks, but here, it feels like anyone’s game.
What do you guys think about Crypto Poker? Is it the future of the game, or are you staying away until it’s more mainstream? Also, for those who play on Base or other chains—do you find the level of play easier or harder than 888 or GG?
Let’s chat in the comments!
