The Poker Trap That Exist Only In the Mind

Hey Cardmates,

When last have you played poker cashgames, I literally play cashgames everyday.

I was playing cashgame this morning and there's this guy that made me feel like he was at the table just to torment me.

He 3bet me four different times during the game.

At a point, I felt like;

"There is no way he keeps having it, he's definitely targeting me".

This made me to start creating stories in my head convincing myself the guy only came to push me around.

But another thought was ringing at the other side of my head.

"What if none of that were true?"

My opponent might actually not even be thinking about me but just his cards.

It might just be a coincidence that he keeps getting a good combination every single time.

I think most players also make this mistake.

A few aggressive moves against you makes you automatically think a player has identified you as a weak link.

Sometimes it's just cards and ones you start thinking too much into it, it might just lead to your disaster.

It depends on your stack. Bullys always tend to torment the small stacks. If youre low on chips, play safe or bet big. If youre matched, then there can be only one bully left. Save the all in for when you hit something good.

"He's always got it" vs. "He's picking on me" is the ultimate mind trap!

It’s so easy to personalize getting 3-bet repeatedly when, in reality, variance just handed them a run of premiums.

I remember my first GG Millions - I was just sure that this guy always bets when I decide to join this round...

Spotting that mental narrative before it turns into a 4-bet bluff punt is huge for protecting your stack. 🧠🛑
